New Orleans Square rocked to the sounds of The Lords of 52nd Street Friday night, July 1, as thousands attended the second annual New Orleans Square Block Party.

The 2022 New Orleans Square Block Party included something for everyone - Kids Zone, car show, food trucks and vendors, live music, and of course an amazing fireworks display that lit up the Broken Arrow sky.

"These events propel the interest and vitality currently taking place in south Broken Arrow," said City Manager Michael Spurgeon. "Events like this go hand-in-hand with our continued effort to revitalize this great part of our City and help build a greater sense of community by bringing everyone together for fun and activity."

From the 51 vendors selling their wares to the rows and rows of cars in the car show to the fireworks finale, there was much to see and experience.

"It's a fantastic night! Everyone is wonderful, the hospitality is amazing, and the City of Broken Arrow has done a wonderful job putting this event together," visitor Janet Ford said. "The fireworks just make you feel like a kid again!"

Thank you to everyone who came out to celebrate our great nation! We hope to see you at the 2023 New Orleans Square Block Party!

The LED conversion of 5,185 PSO-owned streetlights is set to begin Monday, Aug. 22, weather permitting.

More public transportation options are coming to the City with the adoption of the Final Report of the year-long Broken Arrow Public Transit Study that the City Council approved at its meeting on August 16.

Broken Arrow Mayor Debra Wimpee is a finalist for the 2022 Mayor's Council of Oklahoma—Mayor of the Year Award. This year's Mayor of the Year will be announced at the Oklahoma Municipal League Conference Awards Banquet held on Sept. 15 in Tulsa.
